SAMUEL WORMALD
25th October 1749 Samuel Wormald married Ann Bigland of York. Ann was one of 3 daughters of Joseph Bigland, a carrier in York. She died in 1801.
Samuel was a tanner and timber merchant. He was Chamberlain in 1765, Sheriff in 1767-8 and died 22nd February 1785.
Their son, also called Samuel was Lord Mayor of York in 1809. He married in 1777 to Ann Daughter of Edward Smith Esq of Cawood Castle, and so inherited the estate through his marriage.
