A hawk pursuing a sparrow dashed through the school window, breaking two panes of glass. It tried to force its way out of another window, but fell stunned to the floor where it was secured. The sparrow escaped dazed but still living.

The wireless was on in the Infant's room when the BBC stopped the programme. An announcement was made that His Majesty King George VI had died peacefully in his sleep.

Today is the King's funeral, the senior class went to the Rectory to see the procession on television

Christine Johnson cut her forehead today while playing in the girl's yard. Mr Hubert Jefferson kindly motored her to York Hospital. Mr Freke going and picking her mother up on the way. Stitches were put in and the child brought home.
