Elvington History

BOWMAN FAMILY

This family have turned out to have been quite a mammoth task in writing about.

The family can be traced to at least 1722 at Elvington.

Most of the male members were vets and farmers.

George Emerson Bowman a vet at Leeds, left £103,000 when he died in 1941

He is also I think responsible for the naming of Hopewell Place in Elvington, as he lived at Hopewell House, Woodhouse Lane, Leeds

I would like to thank everybody who has helped me with the family.

It is still unfinished as yet
